A
geodesic dome is "a sphere-like structure composed of a complex
network of triangles." These triangles cause this structure to
have a self-bracing framework that gives structural strength while using
a smaller amount of material. "Geodesic" is a Latin word meaning
"earth dividing." In a mathematical and architectural sense,
a geodesic line is "the shortest distance between any two points
on a sphere."
One
of the most well-known geodesic domes is located in Orlando, FL. As
a matter of fact, it is located at Disney World. This structure that
I am referring to is the Epcot Center, as shown below.
